The Big Day Begins
Orphanage entrance. A very nice facility and they seem sincerly concerned for the children.
Concern
Is concern worrying or doing something about it? If I say to be warm and filled and don't give them clothing or food...
Expectant Father and Aunt
Like excited relatives at the hospital, we wait for the new family member's arrival.
Paperwork and More Paperwork
And like a hospital visit, nothing is happening without signing your John Hancock.
The Delivery Room
"Who are these strange looking people?"
The Great Escape
They lock the doors when they bring the children to the adoptive parents for good reason. Olivia would have shown just how fast she could run had the door not been bolted. No screaming and crying, just apprehension. Face it, two wookies, a dragon lady, and a guy with a camera glued to his face would make anyone tense.
Joe Takes Over
Like any good father comforting his child, Joe picks up Olivia to console her and make her feel safe. Besides, what child doesn't like hugging a furry teddy bear?
Easing of Tensions
Olivia begins to relax ever so slightly. She is using that bag of shrimp flavored chips (she loves them) as her security blanket.
Sharing
Olivia gave each of us (with a little encouragement) one of her shrimp chips (not my favorite uhg) but we all ate them with pleasure because she shared with us!
Monkies
I think Oilivia is trying to tell BaBa he looks similar to the statue. A good thing children like monkies!
At the Apartment
We finally get back to the apartment and relax. Although Olivia is still holding her bag for security, she sits next to Joe without coaxing.
TELEVISION !
The universal language must be television. Every child loves it. She watches it a short while but her inquisitiveness over rides her disire to watch tv and she goes exploring her new surroundings.
Dinner
We went to the local 7-11 (yes, they do have them in China) and purchased hot traditional chinese food. It is quite good and Olivia loved it.
Oliver?
Nothing wrong with this girls appetite. Please sir I want more. She helped herself and would have eaten beyond her capacity had we not stopped her.
Look ma No Bag
All children are alike. She is playing (no bag of chips to protect her) and happy. She will love her new home.
