On The way
Like a family waiting on their child, we rush down from the ninth floor in anticipation. This is the view from elevator lobby on the 9th floor.
The Lobby
This hotel's lobby is very large and beautiful. We will meet up with Luke, Cindy and the orphanage people here. In this provonce of China, they bring the child to you instead of going to get him. I am very glad because it is a five hour drive to where he was.
Tomatoes and Noodles !
Two of Olivia's favorite foods at the same time. This girl LOVES tomatoes and the tomatoes are as good as you can find anywhere here. May as well eat while we wait for the delivery.
LUKE and the Tearfull Exchange
Luke was very afraid at first. I try to hang back and give the newborns room to adjust to us. He has the 'deer in the headlight' look doesn't he?
First Impressions
Joe and Luke are sizing each other up. I am not sure if meeting in such a huge place is good or bad. But it turned out great either way.
Aunt Jan to the Rescue
While Olivia thought Aunt Jan was the dragon lady at first, Luke bonded with her immediately. Shortly after we get to the room Luke crashes and burns. Being terrified makes you tired.
Smiling Now
Children's resilience never ceases to amaze me. A short time ago this child lost everything he ever knew and now he is having a ball. He and Olivia (and the rest of us) were playing and laughing as if he had always been with us.
Hogs Gone Wild
There was nothing in these bowls but Olivia and Luke pretended to eat. Look ma no hands.
Luke on the Move
He gets around great and even pulls himself up on things. We were expecting a bed ridden invalid, not a playful happy boy. This is great.
